U.S. customary units, also known in the United States as
English units or standard units, are units of measurement
that are currently used in the U.S.

The basic units of length are the inch, foot and
yard. A foot is twelve inches and a yard is 3 feet or
36 inches.

12 inches = 1 foot 3 feet = 1 yard or 36 inches

1 mile = 1760 yards = 5280 feet
