When the integers have different signs,find the difference of
their absolute values. Then use the sign of the addend with the
greater absolute value in the sum.

the integers have different signs. Find the difference of their absolute
values
[36] - [-24] = 36 - 24 = 12
36 has the greatest absolute value, so the sum is positive.
